Jesus’ teaching on the "eye" often involves both literal and figurative meanings. Literally, the eye is the organ of sight, but spiritually, it refers to one's perception, focus, and understanding. When the eye is "single" or focused on the right things, it brings light (spiritual understanding and clarity). Conversely, when the eye is "evil," it leads to darkness (spiritual ignorance or sin). Jesus also used the eye as a metaphor for being cautious of sin and maintaining pure focus on God’s truth.
